Sunny Leone is once again surrounded by controversies for being featured in a new advertisement of “Manforce” contraceptives. Well, it has perhaps “hurt” the religious sentiments of Hindus because the ad where Sunny is featuring the brand “Manforce” is related to Navratri.
The ad is designed in Navratri theme and has dandiyas- an instrument used while performing garba and has the photos of Sunny Leone. The ad has a text in Gujarati which means- IS NAVRATRI KHELO MAGAR PYAR SE which also means, “This Navratri play, but with love.”
Various Hindu outfits have shown disaffection against this ad and protested against this and now, they want the ad to be banned and removed. The communities think that the sanctity of the festivals is greatly affected by such ads and it should be condemned.
The Confederation of All India Traders wrote to the Consumer Affairs Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, calling upon his attention towards this Advertisement and has called the attempt “irresponsible” and “immature” attempt to boost sales. The association also requested the minister to act tough against manufacturers.
A complaint to the police was lodged by Mr. Dharmesh Gami, the leader of the Bhartiya Gauraksha Manch. Satish Sharma, the commissioner of Surat Police has ordered the removal of all the ads.
Dharmesh Gami said in an interview with Indian Express, “The hoardings of a condom company with the message having “double meaning” had photos of Sunny Leone. It has hurt our religious sentiments. Navratri is our religious festival and it is the Gujarati tradition of playing the garba.
We will make representations to municipal commissioner, against the agency who had got the license of putting hoardings at different places and take legal actions against them,” Gami added.
The act received mammoth backlash on the social networking site including Twitter where people accused Leone of “hurting” the religious sentiments.
